Golden Cloud Gate

A big THANK YOU to my friend Joey for asking me to create something special for his wife, given to her as an early Christmas present.

He told me he wanted a painting that would represent San Francisco (where his wife is from) and Chicago. I immediately thought of two things…either a silhouette of the Chicago and San Fran skylines merging together, or “Cloud Gate” – known as the “Bean” in Chicago – with a reflection of the Golden Gate Bridge. Joey liked the latter idea, so I rendered a virtual image so he could see what it would look like. He approved the draft and voila – new art! I later realized that the idea of combining the bean and the bridge could even hit on the level of their names, hence “Golden Cloud Gate”.

We met at Walker Brothers for delivery of the painting and half-price banana crepes…YUM. I would have no problem making all future deliveries at Walker Bros from now on.:-P  Joey texted me that night to let me know his wife loved it, and gave me the green light to blog away.:-D
